Who is ATA, what does SWA sell flights on them? Are they a safe A/L? Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm totally in the dark here.

ATA Airlines and Southwest has a codeshare agreement with them to certain cities WN doesn't fly to. The codeshare agreement between TZ and WN came about as the result of WN purchasing some TZ assets @ MDW (beat out FL in the bidding for the assets), and loaning TZ some money for a stake in the airline.

I can understand your confusion. A few years ago I flew into LGA and saw several of their planes with this bizarre logo that didn't ring any bells. That was my first introduction to ATA.

ATA has mostly new planes and is safe. Southwest and ATA Have an agreement.

I fly on AA around 85-90% of my North American flights, after that, I fly TZ, they are a very good airline.....I wouldn't be concerned one bit about flying on them.. no

I was surprised at that too Redneckslim, I head an advertisement the other day for southwest and at the end it said "Some flights may be booked with ATA" really fast. lol But ATA is a real good airline from what I hear.
