Here we go again. Do you think Airtran will match this application from ATL or AA/UA from LAX?

What incentive does FL have to match it? It's not like 2 more carriers would be interested in the route.

Ixtapa loads are actually quite high year round oddly enough. Been travelling down there this past year and flights have been packed, both on 4x weekly ERJ and Sat 735 service on CO.
I'd love DL to fly the route and hope it's successful so I can fly LGA-ATL-ZIH!

Every Mexican destination that DL offers on mainline, CO does as well. While CO uses ERJs to many of the smaller Mexican markets, CO offers mainline service to the following Mexican cities
Los Cabos, Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Leon/Guanajuato, Cancun, Cozumel, and Merida.

Isn't ATL-MTY still a 1000 mile long CRJ route... not even CR7?

Yes, but it is currently DL's only RJ route to Mexico. Every other route uses at least the E70 like SLC-MZT, but the sheer majority of flights is 738s.

That ramp is tiny, I'd love to see it at the peak hours with more airlines. It will be like Cabo!

Well, Delta is restructuring, could it be to boost revenue? They also said they were going to wean the Domestic Market.

UA already holds one of the ZIH route authorities from LAX. The other is held by AS, who have done quite well on the route for quite a time. I really hope AA or F9 jumps on this and the DOT tells DL to shove it considering their crap service and tear down of the WA network out of LAX

Thanx for the info. I knew Alaska flew to ZIH with very good load factors, but I wasn't aware about UA.

If anything I would only expect AA to file as they have a larger presence in LAX than F9 which would give them a better chance of DOT approval. Also with all other airlines quiet for this long about the new routes I owudn't expect too much competition with the DOT slots for DL.
