Take a look at this picture, what could this CO bird be doing in IST? Anyone has an idea?
I know CO is all about Intl destinations and there are rumors of CO starting IST to compete with DL and TK , but at least give us the 757 with extra fuel tanks or something
oops here is the link:

Well, CO doesn't fly them anymore, so maybe someone in Turkey or around there bought it and it's going to be painted and refitted. I don't think CO would send this retired bird around on any "good will" tour, as everyone I talked to at CO hated the things.

Notice that it doesn't have any titles (and if you look carefully, no globe painted on the blue tail). It's on its way to another carrier.

Very true didn't pay attention to that thanks for the clarification. I'm suprised Co didn't start EWR-IST yet, I know the 757 doesn't have the range but a daily 767 would definetly be a success. IMO

CO/KLM code share on IST with a connection in AMS, seeing it non stop from EWR would be nice but I think it might be a few years away.

True I wonder if they look at the bookings with the codeshare and then decide whether to start their own service?
Also what was the website with airline fleet lists together with the regs and history. Thanks

I don't think they have spare 762s to toss around, and they have higher priority route additions than IST, like more Scandinavia and more Germanic countries. If they freed up a 762, I'd see it going to MUC or VIE before IST.

Does any US airline fly non-stop to IST from the US?

DL has been flying the route for years adn for a brief moment they had ATL-IST which got cancelled after 9/11. DL's loads especially the last year has been very good and very profitable according to DL's IST people and strong possibilty of ATL-IST starting again next spring.

Where does it say Continental on the fuselage? The Globe on the vertical stabilizer is also painted out.

It's a CO plane. Ex-CO. Isn't painted on it because they aren't going to deliver a plane from storage to another airline still in the other livery.
