Hi all,

The German football legend and chief organizer of the 2006 FIFA World Championship, Franz Beckenbauer, begun his around-the-world tour today to congratulate every country which has qualified for the championship next year.

The first countries he visited were Iran and Saudi Arabia, below are two pictures which show Mr. Beckenbauer leaving the plane in Riyadh:

Looks like they chartered a plane for this around-the-world tour. Can anyone identify the aircraft type and the airline?

Patrick

It's a Canadair/Bombardier Challenger, probably a private business jet.

The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul.

Window and door shape I would lean towards a Bombardier BD-100-1A10 Challenger 300 also.

Thanks for the information guys!

I just searched the A.net database but unfortunately I couldn't find any information about the operator of the plane.

Anyway, I can imagine that it was not cheap to charter such a plane for an around-the-world tour.  Wink

THose stripes across the fuselage are typicall for privat jets. And if it were to be an airline, I couldnt think of any livery with such stripes.
Anyway, you think a rich guy like Beckenbauer would travel with an airline? Wink

Yeah sorry, I meant rather "operator of the aircraft" instead of "airline" because I never saw an airline with such a livery.

I can imagine that he is flying quite often on regular airlines (in First Class of course). On this trip he is probably using a privat jet to save time and also because the FIFA pays for it.  Wink

It's flying for DaimlerCrysler? Hmmm.... interesting. I wonder why they provided the plane. Or can you just charter one of DaimlerCrysler's planes?
