Can anyone confirm that the single Antonov 225 (the biggest aircraft in the World - beat that you A380 fans  Silly ) Is either in North America (probably USA) or enroute to North America right now? Just a rumour I'd heard

Yeah, plenty of An 124's in the USA at any one time.

The An225 went to Shannon past few days, so correct to assume it may be heading this way - don't know where yet!

I know the 225 was at Vegas around the end of last month. Don't know its exact location right now though.

The AN-225 Mriya, UR-82060 should be on it's way to North-America right now. I don't know the exact route but the aircraft is carrying big electric generators which are to be used in the disaster areas in the southern states.

The aircraft arrived in Keflavik, Iceland near midnight last night and was scheduled to depart again around midnight tonight. I also understand that 1-2 AN-124's came along, but they departed earlier.

I got a change today to go up to the aircraft where it was parked at a remote stand and managed to shoot some photos of it. The weather was not that good (a bit foggy) so they photos aren't that great.

Asgeirs,

you went spotting with Aero_145 right? he told me that it was in KEF today and he took some photos. BTW, the AN225 was scheduled to fly to BNA from KEF.

I wouldnt mind seeing it in PIT, we get the -124 and C-5's every now and again. Would be a cool site to say the least.

Leo,

That's right. I went to KEF together with Aero_145 to get photos of the aircraft (if you look closely you can see him standing by the wheel boogies in the photo above). There are currently some photos in the queue from at least 3 Icelandic A.net photographers, but they haven't been screened yet (and the screeners apparently didn't reply to the priority requests we sent).

There was an Antonov in DEN the past few days - saw it with my own eyes.

It was parked on the south de-ice ramp, couldn't get a good pic tho sorry.

No clue. One of the -124 crew once told an IAH spotter that they usually leave them in whatever city they stop in until the next mission. I'd imagine that applies to the -225, as well.

Could your next mission be a tour of the aircraft for our spotter group? Heck, we'll even cater it!
