Second application from Aeromexico this week. As far as expanding to the US, Mexicana has been more aggressive than AM, but now AM is taking some action. Seeing AM's 737s at Morelia is always a joy. I hope they get it.....

What equipment? Hopefully something other than the 2 MD-87s ONT sees by them... It would be nice to have some variety.

As AM continues to receive more 73W's, which birds are more efficient, it is likely that we will start seeing these new planes deployed in the new routes.

Hum wish I could share the same opinion, but I don't see it in this way...! Sounds to me more like a copycat strategy!
AM has gone to TUS, SLC, BOS, JFK (from MTY), Canada and several other markets and return with empty hands and big failure results.
They took longer to renew their fleet and things got worse with Boeing's month machinist strike and as for now delivery of the 6 remaining B737s and the 2 B777s are delayed.
They're renewing their fleet but they're not growing... I hope they stay with almost all of their 39 MD80s and keep all new B737s and start showing real growth (pilots, crews, routes, destinies, pax carried, etc)... the routes flown by and B757s fate is unknown and their long haul fleet is small, old and better not mention their long haul network which is a joke. I'm not bashing AM, is the truth! YES, MX is almost the same, but less worse, they only lack long haul flights but we all know AM has always been the government spoiled carrier before the privatization and things got worse after Cintra's creation.
We lack long haul planes and flights out from MEX to Europe and now things are getting worse for AM having NM @ TLC from MAD and soon BCN and probably at MTY too from MAD with low fares and by far additional capacity, and could get even worse with IB if the decided to attack NM and AM at MTY, all this as a consequence of pure protectionism to AM at Cintra making mexican carriers less and less competitive with the rest of the world.
If AM is good at the business market, then they should reinforce their long haul fleet and send 767s to LAX, JFK, LIM and add more capacity and offer same frequencies to SCL and GRU as LA and RG do and reinforce Europe... that's what AM should do.
And as LeoDF says, AM and MX need to RISK, RISK MORE... flying to ONT from MLM and BJX is RISKING nothing and now that treaties between MEX and US have been modified we could see a 3rd competitor on those rutes with ZE, 6A or the new runners!

Agree with you guys

Yep, all those decisions about "that´s AM route MX not there, that´s 5D route, MX not there, that´s MX route AM 1x there" but fortunately will be over, as for the end of this month maybe we will know the "new owner" of MX.

Don't be so sure that if IB's buy MX could be a good deal for MX... did you forget the thing that happen with VA(Viasa) in Venezuela when IB bought the airline? old planes like B72S were part of the fleet of this latin american airline and after that the bankrupt, and don't forget the case when IB's got involved with AR, a completely mess the plans of expantion of AR were stopped by the IB's Group!!!!! they even make disappear AO(Aviaco) in Spain skies... so as somebody told in this forum I rather that the new or future owner of MX will be mexicans and not people who don't know how is the managment way in Lat Am's airlines, they don't know about the etnichal costumer because here in Europe simply doesn't exist.... cheers from Sardegna Victor
