The Murray Aviation DC-8 flights are probably carrying autoparts. These flights could be due to a combination of things, including the new highway.
I'm hoping that the Jazz flights are doing well. I always thought that a RJ sized aircraft would best suit the YOW and YUL routes.
YHM seems to gradually be getting busier. Lets see it continue.
Also the ILS on runway 12 is being upgraded to brand new CATII. Navcanada did some preliminary checks the other day with their Challenger. This should address the issue of aircraft diversions due to bad weather. Westjet stated that this was one reason they withdrew most of their flights.
Take it Easy.

Jazz is doing better than I think AC had hoped for. They are turning people away for some flights. I had a talk with an agent in AC groups while doing a booking and he stated that they are running close to 80% full on most flights with a lot of sold out flights by departure time. They are already hearing about expansion east and west of YHM. Go to AC web site and check availability about 6 days from now and check what is available on the YUL and YOW flights and you will see that a lot of seats are taken. In the paper they have stopped advertising the fares as from YHM/YYZ and now shows the fares only from YHM to YOW YUL YYT LGA EWR IAD DCA BOS LHR FRA MUC HAM TXL SCL EZE HKG.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that AC's flight loads out of YHM are stellar, but then again, they are doing quite well, everything considered. I would tend to agree that the CRJ is the correct aircraft for the current destinations out of YHM. What we should all be watching for is where the CRJ's are going to be deployed over the next six months. I have a feeling we are in for some big surprises as CRJ's at mainline are progressively transferred to Jazz.

The Murray DC-8's are ad hoc auto parts charters. Not scheduled. There has been a ton of auto parts flights since August. I think this is a result of a shortage of parts for the GM production step-up with the Employee Pricing promotion. I also think the hurricanes in the southern U.S. caused trucking disruptions, delaying parts for production.
I have been hearing that the Jazz flights are doing very well. There has been a rumour of mainline AC adding flights to YYC from YHM. This would probably hurt Westjet's loads westbound from YHM.
The airport needs to expand the terminal yesterday. It is way too small for current and future capacity.
