Are the timings correct??

3 hrs difference in flight times seems like a massive difference on an 8 or 11 hr sector..

on the EK website DXB-HKG is 7.00, while HKG-DXB is 9.15.

hhhmmmm, can anyone explain why DOH-HKG is an extra hour each way?

I think it depends on routing!!! Cause technically it should take almost the same time. Unless there is a stop somewhere. But in my experience, flights from Doha to anywhere usually take longer than those from Dubai.

Last time I checked, DXB is closer to HK than DOH. A sheduled flight from DOH to DXB is just about one hour.

DOH-HKG is actually 234 miles further than DXB-HKG...

I'm guessing you mean ANYWHERE eastbound....

because LHR, and other european points are actually closer from DOH!

The times suggests a 10hr turnaround on 2347 which seems excessive. I suspect the flight continues to somewhere on these days. Manila or Taipei are likely destinations.

Fantastic news - another suitable addition to the China route map for Qatar Airways. I hope Tokyo is next on the list for the Far East.

To date, Qatar Airways is by far the No. 1 airline in the Middle East.

EK156,

The experience of having flown several airlines based in the Middle East and deciding that Qatar Airways are far superior in various factors (such as service, young fleet, cabin ambiance, standard of food etc...) when compared with their competitors.

A recent night flight on an Emirates A340-500 (A6-ERH) from Singapore to Dubai apparently "ran out" of something as simple as pillows and blankets in the business class cabin. Need I say more?

Glad to see QR in HKG!

I now rather fly QR to EK on most routes via the Middle East, QR have realy shown that they are better than EK!  Smile

QR is one of the few 5 star airlines rated by Skytrax. QR is the only one in the Middle East, if I remember correctly even the only one outside the Far East.

QRs A 332s which will be used on the HKG route are 100 times better in all 3 classes especially F & J when compared to EKs B 777s and A 332s that fly the DXB-HKG route nonstop and via HKG!!!

With the right marketing/brand awareness strategy emphasizing how good their product is + promote their 5 star ranking aggressively, QR has the capability of taking away a lot of EKs and GFs market share on the important HKG route especially GF who only fly daily to HKG via BKK thus extra flight time etc which isnt an attractive option for the high yield F and J class passenger.

I hear that EY too is looking to start 4 weekly nonstops to HKG from next summer with A 332s from AUH.

Not necessarily....

Given that QR is short on aircraft, you will find that they operate a split schedule to most destinations, in order to provide connectivity on most days of the week.

QR operate to banks of departures westward DOH-Europe... one is around midday, the other just after midnight...

the split schedule HKG-DOH allows QR to offer connections to various European/african/middle east destinations based on the time of departure ex-HKG to DOH.

According to the Hong Kong Aviation folks, on those three days with a seemingly long layover in HK, the flight will actually continue onto Seoul Incheon. It will seemingly replace the present Doha-PVG (Shanghai)-ICN routing with Doha-HKG-ICN...

Anyway, there is no official announcement yet.

I am actually quite excited about QR flying HKG to ICN. There is some tourist traffic to tap into and the timing is good with an afternoon departure to ICN and the return flight will be on the evening...

Carfield

Yes, i don't really understand why but the PVG route has 3 hr difference too

based on what factor? i've been flying Both EK and QR numerus times and to be honest, unless EK flights are fully booked or i need to go to destinations not yet served by EK, i tend to avoid flying QR. There are so much QR should improve, food or drink run out constantly on PVG services and they should get rid of their hidious uniforms.

HKG 1455
ICN 1905

ICN 2025
HKG 2300
HKG 2355???

hhhmmmm, looks very tight on 80 minute layovers....
