Well, considering that TT Airlines will never fly on American soil, I'm sure the Name issue will not hinder it's potential for success.
If anything, a few people will get a good laugh out of it, but thats about it.
It won't be anywhere near as big a branding SNAFU as Chevy's naming of the Nova (loosely translated to "No Go" in many Latin American countries), which actually hurt the vehicle's sales.
You talkin about my car fool?! I got me a 1973 Nova SS, well had... then I snapped a tie rod and piston rod and blew the head gasket going ONLY 95. IT was my first car... got it pretty much 1 year ago from my brother in Law... lasted me only 2 months.... havent sold it though. Now I drive me a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited
There is Lake Titicaca that is humorous, but Titibank... if I was around for that I would have laughed and TT Airlines is great.

Turkish Aviation Transport Association - TA-TA's.
Turkish International Transport Society - TITS
And as long as THY, Turk Hava Yollari, doesn't rename their low-cost division "Gobble", I think the world is safe.

When I saw the thread title, I thought the new Turkish airline title was going to be Crash Air or something dumber. Phew thank god I was wrong.........
Maybe they can merge with Hooters....Do you think they would operate WIDE BODY aircraft ????????
Aviation has a 100% record, we've never left one up there......

The funniest has to be the "Mistsubishi Pajero"
For those who don't speak Spanish "Pajero" stands for Wanker. Thus the 4x4 was renamed "Montero" in many Spanish speaking countries.

Quoting Emrecan (Reply 8): In America Audi is not selling TT ?
They are, and nobody makes such jokes about it. A bigger issue regarding names would be Jazeera Airways. It could never serve the U.S. with that name.
Now, if someone called their airline "TA Airways," or perhaps "Tanda" or something along those lines, that would have a harder time.

Quoting Bahadir (Thread starter): By the way at one point in 1980 the EXIMBANK of Turkey was named "TITIBANK". Nothing can top that
Well now thats a funny one, however I don't think TT Airlines is in the same category with that. Also you have to realize not everyone in Turkey has that American humor that you have
Quoting Emrecan (Reply 8): In America Audi is not selling TT ?
Thats right, I haven't heard jokes about that one, although I have to say with that ride you can get some "TT's"

There is also a german ferry line connecting Germany with Sweden which is called TT Line because it is connecting the cities "Travemünde" and "Trelleborg". Hey we are adults, what's wrong with that name?
BTW, this line is a good way to go to Sweden. However, not as good as flying, of course

Here we go, another BORING white plane with something blue on the tail. So if they ever want a trendy subsidiary they could just name it BlueTT.
Mitsubishi "pajero"? you can't be serious..

I seriously doubt that, No va means it doesnt go, but Nova is is a cosmic explosion.. which is not really a great name for a car either.
There are a few more out there that are funny, like Isuzu hombre.
These "trendy and modern" names and paintschemes are making me sick

That is only the case for Argentina, Spain and Chile AFAIK. In Mexico it is not used, although some people might know what it means.
I don't see anything wrong with their name, they're just as guilty as Audi for the TT.
