Yes after seeing this last night in the newsgroup I was hopeful. But there is still nothing in the booking section on piac.com.pk nor is Glasgow listed as a destination they fly to. You only find GLA when you search for flights from DXB-KHI. Unless of course this has just changed.

It's showing for sale in Galileo:

WED 16NOV05 DUBAI /GLASGOW 16/0000 16/2359 G*GAL
1 DXB GLA 0730 1120 EK 25 JA CA YA WA MA BA KA QA HA LA#332B*E
2 DXB GLA 1245 1700 PK 777 CA PA YA VA KA 310

so one would assume they have the rights.

Who knows though.

Wow, didn't expect the route to be via DXB!

A bit risky to go head to head with one of the richest airlines in the world, I just hope the route stays, and PK can get high yeilds!

Great to see EK getting some competition on the GLA-DXB-ISB/LHE sector!

Great to see PK expanding in the UK, I wish BHX and GLA would receive the 777's on direct services!

On a side note - Which is the main airport in Pakistani Aviation, ISB, LHE or KHI?

Rob!  Smile

2 days a week on an A310 ... would hardly call that much competition!!  rotfl

There were rumours of GLA-ISB being direct using the 777 but it looks like initially all we will see is the 2x weekly A313. Could PK fly ISB-GLA-IAH using the 777?

EK have nothing to worry about, PIA are hardly reliable when it comes to time keeping. However penny pinching Scots may appreciate the cheaper prices, but will no doubt complain about their delayed arrival!!

I believe thats it's KHI from the population figures and also because Karachi is a major international seaport.
The link below gives Islamabad a population of 204,000, but it is very close to Rawalpindi which is a bigger city.

Y'mean. We are getting A310s. Come on, give us the T7.
Oh and does anyine know when EK are starting the nonstop service beteen GLA and DXB using B777-300

First Class passengers are my favourites. They can't get any further forward without an ATPL.

The DXB routing does surprise me too. Certainly GLA can support two A310 flights on its own. Infact a direct flight to Pakistan would have given PIA a competitive edge over Emirates.

PK will be fine with this route.....and they do have good on time arrivals/departures.....

with new planes ordered and a somewhat improved campaing, I see PK doing better.

I still think they should privatise PK, that would be much better for them.

Don't need to. They currently fly to IAH via MAN, and when the 777-200LRs enter service they can do Pakistan-IAH nonstop

So PK look set to come to GLA? I'm sure this will go down well with the population of Pollokshields . . .

Delayed to 15 December due to late aircraft delivery from Boeing - was due to commence 01 October. 777 will be visiting GLA from time to time between now and December due to high loads.

Still wondering why PK chose DXB rather than a direct flight from LHE. Is it the success of EK on the route?

I'm still wondering why PIA and BAA haven't annoucned it. EK have had major success on GLA-DXB. Carrying approx 150,000 pax in their first year using the A332, about to be upgraded to daily 777-300ER. Also GLA's cargo figures rocketed with the arrival of EK.
