Can someone tell me (in order please) what are the top 20 or 30 largest airlines in the world?

As I know!!! AA and UA are the largest airlines in the world. I can't tell you 20 or 30 because I am not a reporter! Sorry....!

Sorry, I don't know about passengers, but here's the Revenue Passenger Kilometers list which is the standard for the industry.

You forget to mention that this top 20 is based on airlines having reported their figures on time to ATW. For example, AF is not in the list which is surprising considering the european airlines which are in there.

The DOT uses revenue passenger miles not actual passengers boarded. RPM's = one psgr flown one mile.
Since UA and AA have more longer haul flights the rank higer in this statistic, but if you just count the number of people boarded DL out numbers them by several million a year.

It carries no passengers but, in terms of numbers of planes flown and certainly in revenue operations performed, FedEx is the world's 4th largest airline after UA, AA and DL.

BUT Lufthansa is the most profitable Airline in the world!!

The most important thing when ranking commercial airlines is to always be ware what filter criteria is used! ot could be the unti pf production, Revenue, flettsize, Employees, ........

In terms of number of passengers, Delta is the biggest. They were the first airline ever to carry over 100 million people in one year, and last year carried about 106 million people.
