Only IC opted for them Initially.Later versions had the Standard gear. The Bogie vendor has closed shop too.

The Surprise is that the New Order will have CFM56 powered A320s Family with Standard MLGs.

Maybe still needed in Indoneasia, a lot of poor runways cannot handle a 737-300 without a payload restrictions.

What about an A320 Combi with this LDG, A321 engines and extended range especially made for airlines operating in rough conditions ?
I can imagine this model could sell well in Africa.

Exceptions confirm the rule.

The problem wouldn't be lack of demand, but (with some well-known exceptions) perhaps payment capacity of most African carriers.

Ah Zeke, U beat me to it! Yeah, but both potential users and Airbus worry about the residual market value of them in say 20 years down the road... No solution from either end at the moment...

Airbus industries "back-chartered" an IC-320 with the double-bogey (I think it was VT-EPT, I may be wrong) for quite a few months to run some tests and r&d for themselves. This was earlier in 2005.

I think there are also some photos on the Internet, shall try and locate them and get back.

What tests might they have been running? Given they manufactured the a/c surely they would have the data from earlier on?
