Recently read on the ninervictor forum that part of the viewing gallery in Terminal 1 at Singapore Changi Airport (next to Swensens Restaurant) is to be closed for good to the public. The space is reportedly making way for a new lounge for Emirates.
This is going to be a real pity as this is perhaps the best place within the airport terminal to spot and see the aircraft being serviced, it also has the best runway view at the airport at the moment. The rest of the viewing gallery will remain opened to the public, and this gives a view of the central apron of terminal 1.
This is the latest in a series of renovations at the airport which has seen the public viewing areas shrink dramatically in size and spotting/viewing quality, hopefully, the new terminal 3 will have areas designed for the spotter and the general public.
For those who want a last spotting opportunity there, better act fast as I understand it will close sometime in November, I also understand that the popular Swensens restaurant will also be closing then, bringing to an end the many fine memories that many Singaporeans and visitors have of the place
