hey guys, I will be flying on AA thru JFK.
my flight arrives at Terminal 9 and I have to go over to Terminal 8 to catch a connection.
Just wondering if anyone here has done that recently and how much time I should allocate to go from 9 to 8 and how far it is.
I have gone on AA.com however the info there is lacking.

Thanks for your help,
Cheers
Alek

You should need no more than 5-10 minutes at most, there is a connector, or the airtrain if you are adventuresome.

Be adventuresome! AA.com's website is woefully inadequate with that type of information, and has been for some time.

It only takes five years to go from rumor to standard operating procedure.

The Airtrain won't work for this terminal transfer. It's all one stop on the airtrain.

I would give yourself 20 minutes to make the connection on foot at the moment, due to all the construction work.

moreover, you will have to go through security again when you get to T8, so depending on what time of day, it may take a bit longer though they do have priority lanes.

Um...I love the new T9, but it is HUGE. We are talking a very, very long walk now. Depening on where u arrive on the midfielfd concourse, you will have a sizeable walk down the concourse itself, then the tunnel is quite lengthy, and then its thru the terminal to the T8 connector. All very nice, but again, JFK is no longer a medium-sized terminal that it was.
This is comparable to a DFW walk in the same terminal.  Smile
20 minutes. easy.
