I don't know if this is new news or really of any interest to anyone...
But I was just looking at US Airways Dividend members programs, as I am a member and have 66,000 miles to redeem and looking at booking a flight to the US.
US Airways use to charge 40,000 miles per return trip from Europe to the USA during the winter period and 50,000 miles during the Summer period. This has now increased to 50,000 miles throughout the whole year.
Also flights within mainland USA and Canada have increased from 20,000 miles to 25,000 during the winter period to the same as the summer months.
This brings US Airways in line with other Star Alliance carriers, which require 50,000 dividend miles to fly between Europe and the US, so no longer really gives an incentive to fly with them. I could now choose to fly UA, BM, LF, etc... For example and only use the same air miles.
I assume this brings the program in line with America West and not all the changed will go in everyones favour.
