I did a search to see if this has been discussed before, but nothing came up. I was just wondering if anyone thinks Delta and or Northwest will change there Livery when and if they come out of BK protection. I personally don't think they will and I hope they don't. I know it's not a rule that u must change your corporate identity when you come out of BK, but I've noticed that US and UA did (although UA changed theirs while still in bankruptcy). One other reason I don't think DL or NW will change their livery is because NW's livery is fairly new and delta has been through three in the past 8 years or so.

Just wanted to see what others thought about the subject.

I don't think they will change the liveries. NW's is new and Delta's still looks good. It will be interesting to see what the livery would look like on the subsidiary that NW is talking about.

The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

I think one of the few things NW has going for it is their awesome new livery.

For some reason, I love it, espescially on the DC-9's

I think the E-Jets would look awesome in that livery.

Unlikely.

NW has a rather new livery - why would they change it again?

DL has gone through 3 liveries in recent times, they will probably stay with the new "motion" scheme. We may see some additional colors for Song, but its not clear.

UA changed its livery while in reorganization - but that was a cost cutting move as the new colors are easier and cheaper to apply. US is going through a livery change, but that it motivated by its merger with HP and due to the fact that the dark colored airplanes are not well suited to ground time at very hot PHX and LAS.

NW and DL hope to improve their repuations during the bankruptcy proceeding (new routes, hopefully better service).......thus an identity change is not really necessary if and when these carriers emerge from bankruptcy protection.

Let's see...we just spent x number of months/years in BK court, pissed off most of our creditors and spent MILLIONS, if not BILLIONS, in legal fees and other such costs. Let's go out and spend 10's, and possibly 100's of millions more to rebrand our product. Makes all the sense in the world - NOT!

A company, whether an airline or otherwise, may rebrand itself after BK, if the old logo had been around for a long time.

DL and NW are still in the process of getting all of their aircraft into a new livery. So, I don't think either one will devise a new livery any time soon.

It would not surprise me if DL did change their livery. They don't have wavy gravy on their website anymore. Further, you can't find it in their new BOS terminal. The way Grinstein hates wavy gravy, it wouldn't surprise me if he has some people working on a new livery.

US did not change their livery in bankruptcy. It's changing due to the merger with HP, but they didn't change the US livery.

NW will probably keep their current and relative new livery. It is a relatively inexpensive livery to implement and maintain. Knowing how NW is watching every penny, it is unlike to change.

Delta? Who knows. It seems our ever-evolving livery is subject to change on a daily basis. Stay tuned!

Worked for too many airlines to list. Banktupcy after bankruptcy after bankruptcy.

One of the reasons given for the new NW livery is that it is cost effective.
