Hi,
I'm flying to LA from Heathrow & trying to decide between:
AA777
VS346
BA744
Although I'm more excited about the prospect of travelling on either the 346 or 744, I've read that AA777 would be more comfortable in terms of leg room/seat size. The price is also £60 cheaper (I'm flying on a Wednesday).
Is this true? Also is the aircraft likely to be full for a mid-week flight? (I'm wondering whether I'd be able to switch seats if they sat me next to Pavarotti).

Seatguru on the AA 777:
"American will be adding additional seats onto these planes by December 2005, removing "More Room Throughout Coach" and reducing the seat pitch a few inches. We will update the site with new configurations as they become available. Underseat space at all A, J, D and F seats is limited due to entertainment system box."

The 1 additional row of seats is being is installed in "zone C" which is the area between doors 3L/R and 4L/R. So the economy seating in rows 20 through 27 will remain unchanged. If you can get a seat reserved in that area, you'll be good to go with the "MRTC" legroom.

XRay, I flew AA's777 JFK-LHR-JFK a couple of months ago, and will be flying AA from LAX-LHR-LAX in December....
even though I'm a bit biased, the 777 has a "roomier" feel to it..and if you can get seat 31, you will never want to go back.....seats 31 A/B/H/J are phenom.....
I always try to get 31A.....basically you can setup a picnic area in front of you.......I'll be trying to post a trip report, but if you want to send me your email, I can show you some pics I took from Seat 31A/B.......!!

31J is actually just a little touch better than 31A, since the overhead bin on the right side has no (nowadays unused) magazine rack.. With 31J you are very likely to get your own large bin.
Did I mention I fly JFK-LHR round trip on AA 777s on average every 3 weeks?
