Hey guys,
Today I went to Santa Barbara's site and the first thing I saw was:
"Nueva Flota Santa Barbara Airlines, Boeing 767" (Santa Barbara's New Fleet Boeing 767) http://www.santabarbaraairlines.com/
We all knew this was coming, but didn't know when.
The made it official that beginning Nov. 1st their CCS-MAD route will be served four times a week, and their CCS-TFN route will be serviced weekly with a Boeing 767. Also, beginning December, they will fly 6 days a week to MAD and one to TFN.
I believe these are very good news for us Venezuelans. This will be the first Venezuelan airline with "quite new" equipments since VIASA.
I'll try to go down to CCS to try to spot the aircraft and get some shots!
Hopefully, they'll have it already nicely-painted!
Saludos desde Caracas!

Congrats bud.. I like Santa Barbara but the issue with the DC-10s was scary, so this is definitely good news...

Isn't S3 using that 742 they were going to lease for a few weeks until the 763 was ready? Are they ETOPS certified already?.....that was quick!
Also, I have seen on flight tracker the IB is flying a A346 down to CCS now? Are the loads that high? Can anybody get a shot of that bird there?

Not that many... but Santa Barbara managed to secure at least 2 763ER from Pegasus Aviation. Pegasus is the lessor of Santa Barbara's DC10s.

You mean they get two ??? What for ?
According to what they say on their website they want to operate 7 weekly services to Spain. They used to have 2 DC10 for those flights, but they were not very reliable, so it was justified to have two.
I doubt that they can afford to pay the leasing for 2 763 having one on the ground !
What I hope is that they open some new routes, e.g. to Italy.

Yup, you are right...
Supposedly, S3 wants to fly to Portugal and Italy to compete against TAP and Alitalia. They'll use their first 767 to go to MAD and TFN and probably their second will do these new routes...
I really hope to see a nice livery on these first Venezuelan 767s!

Actually, I saw they used a couple of times this month these A346s to go to Lima. Probably this is high season for South America...

I might be wrong. Is that I've heard some TV ads saying: Fly Santa Barbara to Spain. We are flying daily to Spain with our fleet of "new generation" Boeings 767-300 ER. They say fleet and Boeing in plural. You also have to consider that the plane has to go a weekly maintenance check, I think it's impossible to fly daily transatlantic with a single 763, unless you don't perform maintenance on it.
Another possibility is that the 763 is wet leased and they might use the 2nd one to increase capacity to MIA and send the 752 to fly MAR-MIA. Who knows...
Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in CCS this week.

It's Santa Barbara......we all know Maintenance is optional
Could be the 763 is for another European route, LIS or MXP

I am so glad that Santa Barbara has finally decided to set its own record straight. They have a lot of potential and this 767 can only help. I am glad that Santa Barbara is demonstrating that "en Venezuela, si se puede!"

Very nice. A little unfortunate that these changes were sort of forced, but somehow they had to happen. Now it would be even better if they started to add more medium-haul aircraft in order to solidify a stronger network.

Flights will start with a B767-300ER wet leased from Icelandair.
FI only have one, it is TF-FIB I saw it some time ago in BRU and I believe it is mainly used in their U.S. routes and charter routes.

Nice. I just made a little research for TF-FIB and found out that it was delivered Sep 1991 to SAS. So far not a really new bird. But better than the DC10.
I am sure the aircraft is in very nice condition since Icelandair is know to keep their aircraft very well. I hope they paint it in S3 colors.
So this is the first one with obviously a second one to come for the increase of service for X-mas and Portugal.
Quoting SOUTHAMERICA (Reply 20): Now it would be even better if they started to add more medium-haul aircraft in order to solidify a stronger network.
Definitely. This is something Santa Barbara needs. And if they start such routes with nice and "new" 737 and/or E-jets I am sure it will be a success. People like flying S3 and they would prefer them also e.g. to BOG.
And: They finally need to replace the old 727 on the Ecuador services.

Quoting Lamedianaranja (Reply 23): Didn't someone see a FI B757 at MIQ? And now S3 gets a FI B767, there must be a connection?
Maybe Luis had too much Polar and it was a 767 he saw ?
But maybe they also get a 757 to operate some other routes ? UIO ?
I just checked the reservation system and it still shows the DC10 operating the S3 routes. This is a bit strange. I can understand that they did not show the 747 "operated by A4" but the 763 is a long term solution...or not ?

Quoting Chiguire (Reply 24): but the 763 is a long term solution...or not ?
That's what it seems...
Following S3 CEO's declarations, these aircraft will replace for good the older DC-10s to upgrade their transatlantic routes. So, as far as I know, they will have two 763s and plans to add other 752s to enhance their connections and a probable 772...
Quoting SOUTHAMERICA (Reply 20): Now it would be even better if they started to add more medium-haul aircraft in order to solidify a stronger network.
Yes, that's totally true. S3 must add some new aircraft for their short haul flights in order to get some more revenue. The 727 must be burning their money... with some E-jets or some new 737s, as Chiguire said, they are going to be awesome. They have a huge opportunity, let's hope they don't waste it!
This is the 767 we were talking about. I'm starting to get excited! If Santa Barbara is going to use this aircraft, it won't be so expensive to paint. They'll only have to change the tail color and erase the name in the fuselage.
This is TF-FIB. I searched on the data-base and I found out they have another one: TF-FIA.
Some of us A.netters might go down to CCS to see if the a/c is there this weekend. We think it might get here at least two days before its first flight, Nov. 1st.
Im excited!!!
Saludos!
