MD-11 Open Hatch At Take Off Question

Looking at this picture, it seems that a hatch (just in front of the engine) on the KLM MD-11 is still open.

Where is this hatch used for. And can it do any harm when it is open when the aircraft takes off?

This should be a Tech-Ops question, but I believe it has something to do with the Cabin Pressurization system. I think it the door that allows the bleed cabin pressure out. But I might be mistaken!

I think it's the pressurisation outflow valve. It closes as the aircraft pressurises during the climb and opens as it depressurises during descent. You can see it on most aircraft types.

Hatch opened up during takeoff from Miami. Plane turned around and landed safely. Not sure why the hatch opened though

Once I remember an aircraft taking off from AMS with the doorsteps still attached to the aircraft!! It was long ago but I still remember seeing the pictures on tv.
