I flew on a United B777-222IGW (N799UA) last June from Chicago to Denver. I was dissapointed. It was not comfortable, it was not very pretty (even though the aircraft was only 3 weeks old), and there was not really anything that other aircraft don't have. I have decided that I will never fly one again unless I absolutely have to.

I loved the 777. I liked the way the o.h. bins were done, so that it leaves the cabin with an open feel to it. Granted, I didn't feel the discomfort of Economy Class on my 9 and 10 hour SFO-LHR flight (I was in Business going and First coming back), but I have heard soooo many horror stories about Economy Class of AA's, along with UA, CO, and BA's 777's. Flyf15 is correct in saying that it doesn't have anything that the other planes don't, but I guess that it is just a sense that you are flying aboard the most tested jetliner in commercial history, and the most advanced jetliner.

I have flown on two 777s -- one with UA, the other CO -- and both times I was in Business Class, so my opinion is perhaps colored by the class of service. It's a fine a/c as far as I'm concerned but does not have much of that undefinable 'charm' that makes an airliner interesting.
I thought the GE90 engines were smoother and quieter on takeoff than the P&Ws. In another forum, it was implied that I unfairly favor RR, but in the 777 sweepstakes I am actually rooting for the GE90, since it is all-new technology and I would like to see it succeed. I sat right at the engine line and there was no undue buzzing, even on takeoff. At cruise, the GE90 was as smooth as silk with no discernable engine noise.
