Yesterday (31OCT), Etihad Airways flew the first AUH-BRU-YYZ flight, which returned YYZ-BRU-AUH, passing through BRU several hours ago.

Here are some pics of the aircraft pushing back from BRU earlier today en-route back to AUH:

I got a crappy shot here near Wendy's. Just for the record. Landed 31 minutes early at RWY 23 at 8.59pm.

A friend of mine just came from DXB to YYZ yesterday Oct 31 on BA. I asked him why he did not chose EY, He said, they had no clear pricing policy, he booked on them first and they gave him a price then they called him to inform him that the fare was wrong and they gave him a higher rate, then again they called him for adjustment so he decided to use another airline.

Well, it seems that they are doing great job in advertising and brand building but not as good in the sales department.

It would be very nice to know about the load factor, and also what was the total flying time for each leg as well the transit in BRU

Okay, that means I can show my poor phone pics from when it passed through BRU on the outbound flight to YYZ yesterday....

Unconfirmed reports from BRU that the load factor on AUH-BRU was 100% and on BRU-YYZ was 75% .

Excellent news if EY can keep these loads at this high factor (if they'r confirmed)

I'm suprised Etihad used their A330-200's with PW's and not their newer RR powered A330's! (newer RR 332's have better cabins)

When does the TAM lease end?

Hey,
I know that guy in red, that should be "Bosse" if I' am not mistaken!
(what the hell is he doing there?)

There are always "flipflops" from our company when something new happens!

I work for the Catering devision of Aviapartner, the handler of Etihad at BRU,
but they went for LSG catering here...

Though its nice to see EY in Toronto I guess I would have rather preferred emirates with their B773ER's or A345. Any one know how long is the flight run from dubai to Toronto including the stopovers?

You mean the flight from Abu Dhabi....not Dubai. Abu Dhabi is roughly 100 Km away from Dubai if I'm not mistaken.

Nice to see a new 'big' airliner being scheduled into BRU. Very nice to see the water salute from the firebrigade, BIAC knows how to impress its customers from time to time. Hopefully BIAC, together with Macquirie (did I spell that correct?) can atract a couple more airlines.

Strong rumours have it that,
-Hainan might start flying to BRU.
-A service from Japan will be introduced in the near future (NH to NRT or NGO).
-Jet Airways will fly the A340 from BOM to BRU and at a later date, on to EWR.
-CO might start flying twice a day to BRU, but with smaller aircraft than they do now.
-AA is considering additional flight(s) to BRU, most rumoured destination is MIA, but also BOS might be added.

It is very clear that Etihad is targetting the big Canada - India market . In their daily radio Ads they are stressing that u may fly from Toronto to Abu Dhabi and onwards to Delhi and Mumbai .

I don't know when Etihad is supposed to take delivery of their 777-300ER's but there is/was one sitting outside of the paint buildings up in Everett yesterday (Friday), next to a 777-300 for Emirates.

You could also fly BA,KL/NWA, LH ,AZ , AF , SU , VV ,OS , CX , KE , AC , AI or even PIA ...to BOM/DEL from YYZ.

Only if it is really cheap, it's going to make a difference.

But the United Arab Emirates have something that all these folks don't have :
GOLD  Smile . They are famous for being a market for an excellent quality and a wide variety of gold . Something that Indians are fond of . So they may want to fly through Abu Dhabi to buy gold on their way to/from India  Smile .

That's a very good point. I know the Dubai duty free is great and I assume that AUH would be close and prices would be same. I think UAE prices are the cheapest among gulf countries no matter what and no GST or PST. Great for shopping but sadly limted to carry-on. Also Indian customs may not be too happy about it.

Really! Can you try to get some pics? I think that the first delivery was scheduled for some time in 2006.

Its great to see EY expanding, I hope to see them at JFK soon!

I'm surprised to read that EY didn't put their all new, own spec, Trent powered, aircraft on the route. Does anybody know about their plans with regard to fleet planning on this particular route? Will it get own spec metal anytime soon or upgraded to larger birds in the future?

Does anybody know how many passengers get of in BRU coming from YYZ or AUH? Or is it mainly focused on YYZ-AUH passengers?

Is there SN crew onboard?

I heard the loads on FRA/LHR-AUH are extremely low. Wat about the BRU loads?

That is about 35% load factor , not too bad for the first flight , i hope they can fly with fuller planes in the future .
By the way they are planning to inaugurate JFK sometime in 2006 .
