I know that Moscow has several airports providing commercial passenger services. Namely, I'm aware of Domodedovo, Sheremytevo, and Vnukovo. SVO was largely known for its international services, though DME has increased the numbner of international carriers and fights that operate from it.
Are there any other airports that serve Moscow with commercial pax service?
How far are these are these respective airports from the city center?
Which airlines operate from Vnukovo?
What is the current state of VNO? I know that part of the Moscow Olympic bid for 2012 involved significant upgrades to airport.

One of the very few non-Russian airlines operating from VKO (if not the sole one) is Germanwings, destinations are CGN and SXF. Their A-319 is easily spotted in the midst of all the Tupolevs, Yakolevs, Antonovs and Ilyushins.

I flew through SVO I and II this summer. SVO II was all right, you could tell it was built in the 80's but they were doing lots of renovations while I was there, and I found it to be acceptable. SVO I is a serious joke-extremely tiny, you aren't allowed into checkin (like other Russian airports) until they call your flight, which means hundreds of people are crammed into a tiny waiting area at the front. DME, however, was great. There is an express direct train to the city centre, and the interior is great, easy to get around. They were still putting the finishing touches on it this summer.

DME is the best of the three main Moscow airports, but is a long way from the city centre. It's a nightmare journey by car. The terminal is modern and reasonably efficient. It is currently being expanded and will be about twice the size when it's finished.
SVO is losing ground to DME. The terminals are pretty old and looking a bit shabby.
VKO is quite busy, but I've never seen a non Russian airline there. The terminal is being rebuilt and the old VIP one will be demolished as well. As a fan of Russian types, this is the best of the Moscow airports!

I think Vnukovo is used primarily by airlines from the CIS.
By car, I believe it's the most convenient to reach from the center, and the terminal is on par with, if not even slightly better than SVO.
