A interesting article on the Abu Dhabi based Etihad airlines focusing on the day to day life of their cabin crew. When looking at the air hostess pics in the article doesn't she seem to have too much make up on her?

Jesus...did she apply it with a putty knife?!?! her skin is perfectly smooth! Probably took a big bowl, poured all of her products in there, stirred it all up, and sculpted her face all up!

That's what I noticed on my recent flights on Etihad. F/As seem to use too much of that stuff. Probably company policy? Doesn't look really attractive in most cases.

I know I probably should post this in the tech forum - but could someone give me an idea how much more fuel an A330 will burn AUH-BRU-YYZ each way , if each member of the cabin crew is wearing 5 kg of makeup like that poor woman in the photos .

OMG I know Etihad wants flight attendants to look attractive, but that woman was absolutely hideous. Her face was disgusting to look at. I would prefer to look at an old granny on a US airline with no makeup over that monstrocity on that woman's face and her super greasy hair.
It was an interesting article, but I really had trouble taking it seriously with those pictures. Also it makes it seem like flight attendants work hard, but didn't really go into what they do in flight. Why is there so much paperwork?

Check out the first class or business class cabin on a flight to Asia or Europe, and there is a very very strong chance that at least one flight attendant will be a grandmother especially in cases where foreign language knowledge is not necessary.

I am not sure what you meant there, but since I am a guy, it would take a lot more than just makeup to get my face to be that smooth. But seriously, doesn't she look just plane scary in those pictures, especially the first one?
(This post is in good humor, and I do realize that those flight attendants do work hard and try their best to look attractive and professional as they see fit)

To be honest with you guys, my computer is slow in loading pictures and when i was reading the article and saw the first picture my first thougt was: "F***, why did they put pictures of a drag-queen in there"!
...and then i read: “When I put on my uniform, place my hat on my head and pick up my trolley, I feel utterly transformed.”

I once refused to let an otherwise attractive Swedish girl into my home unless she first removed her make-up. I told her I was afraid of it getting trampled into the carpet.

I actually thought the pictures were of the writer rather than the hostess that is telling the story? Can anybody verify the facts to who the pictures are of? Most Etihad hosties look good, from the ones I have seen. My thoughts are these pics are of the writer who operated as crew to experience the 'hostess life' for a day.

I wonder how this air hostess you are all freely making fun off and saying things bad about and calling her hideous will feel if she actually got the chance to read this post of this forum!!!
I have an idea, maybe we should contact her and ask her to read it and tell us what she thinks!!!
It's funny how just a couple of days ago someone was talking about how they would always first consider the airlines with the good looking air hostesses before they buy an airline ticket, and when he said that everybody jumped him and called him racist and a moron!!!
And now I read people utterly making a mockery out of this air hostess who most probably puts every effort in her job and works her heart out!! How Ironic!!!

I think not only does this woman look lovely but she obviously takes pride in how she looks... I would feel assured that this person is very professional and genuienly cares about the job and her customers. If she takes THAT much care in her grooming just imagine how much she cares about safety and SOPs.
Whilst I agree with the principal of "less is more", myself. I think a sloppy appearance usualy means a sloppy demeanor and attitude. In my experience cabin crew who could care less about how they look take that attitude to standard operating procedures. Whilst being carelss with SOPs is not necessarily a huge safety threat it is going down a dangerous road. It does usually effect customer service, however.

How unlike any American (not the airline) flight attendant. I could see the answer right now: "I am a safety professional and must be treated as such. My sole focus at work is safety."

They are everywhere. The flight attendant I had PHL-BOS, which must be one of the most junior routes in the entire US Airways system had to be pushing 60. The flight was BOS-PHL-GSO.

My apologies, but yes, she looks scary, but I would not say ugly, maybe a bit less makeup. Also im glad you do see F/A'S as professionals as I hope everyone does, as that is what they are and everyone I have ever been in contact with has been just that, a professional. Again my apologies, and actually I diddnt realize it was in humor, so oops on my part.

I must say that Gol (G3) currently has the most beautiful female Flight attendants. Even comparing with European, Asian or other South American airline.
