A quick question-

Next Tuesday i am going RNO-SEA-CPH on AS and SK. My flight RNO-SEA leaves at 3.39 pm. Unfortunately a job interview was just scheduled for noon that day, and should take about 2 hours ( I didnt have any choice on this). My question:

Can I check my luggage and check in for the flight prior to my meeting? Unfortunately I had to be issued paper tickets for the itinerary, and have them in my possession. Once I have a boarding card issued then I can technically arrive back at the airport post meeting with an hour to spare to get through security ( NOT that big a deal at RNO) and be at the gate 30 mins before departure, correct?

I called AS and the lady sounded clueless and told me I could only check in up to four hours prior to a flight. Is this correct? Doable, but man what a pain- good thing RNO is small.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful!

Does AS have a web check-in bag drop at RNO?

If so, You could check in up to 24 hours in advance online, and print your boarding pass. I have no idea if they would let you drop your bags off more then four hours before your flight is scheduled to depart, but it's worth trying.

If not, this will probably not save you any time, as you will still have to wait in the e-ticket check-in kiosk line.

I'm guessing that since you are continuing on to CPH, you will need to get your SK boarding pass at the gate when you arrive in SEA.

I think they do, but I have a paper ticket on AS as the tickets were issued by SK, is that a problem at all? I figured I would have to recheck in at SK in SEA anyway.

gaaahhh, im already annoyed at the group interviewing me too!

Just hope RNO is not like SFO or some of the other major airports where they open check in 3 hours before departure. I know you can't do that @ SFO so I guess your best bet would be to keep calling AS until you get to speak to someone there with a clue to find out if you can check your luggage in earlier. I know you can do that in some airports with some airlines but not all.

Hope the deal works out for you and good luck with your interview and enjoy your trip to CPH. It's one of the few places I haven't been to yet and always wanted to visit. I envy you  Wink

Why can't you do it at SFO, I did. I was on CX 873 last month and checked in for the flight at 8 PM with a 1 AM departure. After check in, I left the airport to have dinner with some friends and was back later for the departing flight. No problem.

I tried doing this on a BA 285 to LHR in July and the check in counter was not even open until 3 hours before departure. Same case with VS.

I am sure he would have no problem with AS since the flight will be domestic and I am sure they have multiple flights that particular day. The Asian flights out of SFO tend to open a few more hours than the Euopeans.

I tried calling the airport help desk and got some really old woman- I dont mean to sound ageist- but Ive seen them sitting at that desk by the luggage area. She helpfully(ha!) gave me the 1-800 number of someone at AS to call. So I called and I almost said "am I speaking to a real live person?" down the phone because the lady sounded like a robot. Maybe Ill just scoot down to the airport this weekend and pop my head over the counter and ask. I know that there is a 12.30 departure RNO-SEA and possibly an LAX flight earlier in the morning so I cant imagine it would be too terrible- but you never know.

Tinkerbelle- CPH is gorgeous, this will be my 5th trip there- though Im technically travelling on to southern Sweden and the town of Lund. That airport is one of the best Ive ever seen and its brilliant to fly in there. Town isnt bad either- expensive, but nifty at the same time in a cute way like most of Scandi. Far more exciting than OSL thats for damn sure! Ive yet to do Stockholm, but should in the next year or so. I should file a trip report with this one!
