Hi everybody!

I'm planning to non-rev on LY 357 TLV-FRA 19DEC.
It is probably to early to have a clue if there are any open seats but I'd like to ask two questions anyway:

1) Does anybody have a forecast on the booking situation of that flight?
2) Anything specific that I need to observe when non-reving on LY in comparison to other carriers?

Appreciate your info.
Thanks.

Cheers,
Lp0815

This is what I see for the date:

LY 357 TLV 09:35 FRA 13:20 C2 I2 D0 Z0 W0 Y4 S4 M4 Q4 B4 K4 H4 N4 L4

Still is very early to determine, don't you?

Yip, you're right. It is very early to determine.
However, at my airline we have an internal "forecast" in place which usually gives pretty good indications well in advance.

I was wondering if any of the LY insiders here have any such info at hand.

Cheers,
Lp0815

Yes it is early but - extract from LY res readout of the particular flight
LY357/19DEC a/c 757 capacity C/Y 12/174
actual bookign status C/Y 3/54
My guess and experience says that the chance is very very high
Enjoy your flight

PRGLY - thanks a lot for that.
Maybe I'll contact you again shortly before the 19DEC date to see what is the status of the flt.

After all, my mother-in-law is on board so being the good son that I am, I better make sure to be with her....

Lp0815 - be most welcomed, just make sure to be at the airport well in advance - non revs are not security check excluded, also make sure to list yourself on the flight. Doing so I can try to assign seats for you together with your mother in law on sunday 18DEC already from my office - need just reminder and names obviously. Seat assigment can be done if actual booking will not be very tough otherwise it will be possible from TLV only, but we can try.
Cheers Richard

Richard,

that is a super-nice offer.
Will certainly come back to you on that one.
Btw, I am LH employee, so if you need any such info for a LH flight, drop me a PM or so and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers,
Ludwig

I am not an insider but I think you will have no problem on the 19th of December from TLV to Frankfurt. The reason is the following:

Flights will be full from Frankfurt to TLV due to heavy traffic of pilgrims wanting to spend Christmas in Israel.

Flights from TLV to Frankfurt will be heavily booked after Xmas as they return.

Also this is generally a point to point service as LY does not have any codeshare agreements with Lufthansa and therefore cannot benefit from onward connecting traffic on this route. However there are rumours that LY will hook up with LH like they do with Swiss ie codeshare arrangements and even joining miles and more frequent flyer program.

As far as I understand this route does not have heavy loads for LY, unlike LH.

Hi Semsem,
thanks for your input. I do share your view to the fullest, as I myself will non-rev on LH from FRA to TLV around 14DEC and it seems to be difficult enough to get a seat there as the forecasts are all on the "flight is completely full" side.

In case we will not make LY 357 on 19DEC it will also be difficult to come back with LH that day or the day before/the day after because already then, the flights from TLV to FRA are full as well.

TLV must be a cash-cow for LH with two flights a day packed year-round.
WOW  Wow!

Cheers,
Lp0815

LH is the biggest non Israeli carrier serving TLV and very popular due to vast world network / connections in Frankfurt and very competitive fares.

I am sure they will be fully booked in both directions during the holiday period.

Hanuka in Israel and Christmas coming up for the Christians - full flights guaranteed, I guess!

Richard, I got some info from SQ but they are not that good concerning PRG:
actually there is no direct focus on additional services to Europe and eastern Europe.
PRG is covered well enough by LH and OS (they codeshare with LH on FRA-PRG).
If at all, MOW is considered to be more likely as additional station in Eastern Europe.
Sorry for the bad news.

Cheers,
Lp0815
