I was talking to a friend at Spirit Airlines, and they will be resuming service to Cancun next week starting Saturday. Between 19 November and 14 December Spirit will offer two weekly Fort Lauderdale-Cancun flights on Thursdays and Saturdays. While not set in stone, service is supposed to go daily on 15 December 2005. Seeing how the South Florida-Cancun market is as important a business market as it is leisure, this seems very likely. Detroit-Cancun has no set start-up date, and Tampa-Cancun, which was supposed to launch on Thursday, is now delayed until 1 May 2006. They have pending applications for Dallas-Cancun and Orlando-Cancun as well. I have no idea what is going to happen to those. They recently pulled their application for Chicago-Cancun, but it was for non-Wilma related issues.

Here's to hoping the A321 finds its way to PVD-FLL

Somebody said he expects to see 80% of CUN to be back to normal by the 14th of Dec; and now the airlines are focusing on that day. Alaska is also resuming flights on the 15th.
