Why do these aircraft have an MH suffix in their registration #? Why not DL, DA, DN, DZ, or DE?

If Delta orders the 787, will Delta use a similar idea of not using the standard suffixes? Maybe N8xxXT?

LOL, actually makes sense since the 767-400s were ordered to replace the L-1011s as Delta's domestic high-density aircraft used on leisure routes with much hype.
