Looking ahead at December schedules for Phoenix, I've noticed several airlines have not replaced capacity the way they normally do in the fall. Some observations:

Delta - Only one 767 on the schedule (ATL) - understandable due to
reduction of 762s from the fleet, but no increase in the number of
flights.

Northwest - Only one 757-300 (MSP-PHX-DTW), but no resumption of 2x
daily to MEM, and decrease in the number of usual flights to
MSP (I remember winters past with 9-10x daily and multi 753s)

Continental - No 757s to IAH, CLE down to one daily 738.

United - A320s to everywhere, boring, but not a change in the recent past
for them. Gone are the days of 757s/767s and DC10s.

Air Canada - No aircraft upgrade (to A321 or 767)

Alaska - no 739's or increase in number of flights

US Airways - even with the merger, no increase in hub-hub capacity (all 320
family a/c)

The only carrier that seems to be carrying on business as usuall is AA with 11x daily to DFW (mostly 757s) and 6x ORD.

What gives?

For US there was an increase in frequency out of CLT, PIT did not lose a flight to PHX like they did to SFO, DEN and LAS on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednsday on the next schd and PHL gains at least on Flt a day. Also on thing to rember with US is that on a whole a bunch of transcon pax that would have had to connected thru one of the eastern hubs will have the opertunity to go direct on a HP flight.

As for UA PHX is TED station now.
