Found this in TTG, and found it quite interesting. Following FL Groups £130 million purchase of Sterling some weeks back, they have confirmed their interest in EasyJet, and set ambitious expansion targets.
Quote: Bosses of Sterling see a good fit with easyJet, after raising their stake in the carrier to 16%. Sterling based in CPH has 30 737's and has overlap with easyJet on only one route - London to the Danish capital.
... Vilner said Sterling wanted to double in size in three years, adding 20 aircraft and reaching 9million passengers. Sterling, who already own Maersk, will take over the operating ot its Gatwick-Billund service and axe Manchester-Copenhagen.
UK expansion will initially focus on Scotland, with EDI-CPH already announced, and Helsinki and Oslo soon to be added to the Scottish capital. "Should we obtain slots at LGW we would very much consider Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki.." Vilner said. The carrier is also planning to base aircraft in Spain
So any ideas on fleet? More 737's or A320 series aircraft? Which airport in Spain is most likely? Will FL continue to raise their stake to match that of Stelios' (41%) and perhaps even launch a complete takeover?
Your comments would be welcome.

I think Alicante will be the Spanish base, as they have LOTS of flights there already from Scandinavia. I also think they will add more 737s to the fleet, as they are an established Boeing customer and share aircraft parts and mx with SAS IIRC...

i wonder if Sterling would consider basing an aircraft at EDI in future, they have added a number of routes from the airport already, perhaps if they perform well they might make them daily and make a crew base here?
