KL587 AMS-LOS was cancelled today 11/11 because the runway condition was/is below KL standards.
KL decided to rebook passengers on other airlines and NOT on the KL587 of Nov. 12. since it is not sure if this flight will operate because of the same problem.
Does anybody know if any other airline is flying to LOS? Is the situation THAT bad? I know from the damaged KL MD11 last week, but I thought that the runway was fixed again.

I heard passengers were rebooked thru LHR, so BA is probably flying.
Did you notice the flight was cancelled just after the LOS flight came in, so the crew probably reported unfavorably on the conditions?

I wonder in how far the cancellation of this service was really related to the status of the runway at LOS. For a week or two now, KL has been facing serious operational irregularities with its MD11 fleet, with multiple DXB services cancelled, and an overnight delay on the AMS-BON-GYE-UIO service on at least two occasions because no airframe was available for its 11pm departure.
I have a hunch that the purported runway issues at LOS, no matter how serious, might be a welcome excuse for KL to do some catching up on its pending MD11 issues. Isn't it strange that only KL seems to have issues, whereas all other competitors, including partner AF, apparently don't see the need to cancel services for this reason?
Incidentally, KL also seemed to be heading into trouble with its B772 operations yesterday, with at least 4 services (DEL, MNL, NBO, JFK) being delayed for 2-4 hours.

LOS seems to be in the news a bit too often lately. They should get their act together and have a proper airport to serve a city the size and importance of Lagos.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and ther
