Potential Customers For New Generation 737's

A thread I recently read got me to thinking about a article I read and previous threads about a new 737 family based on 787 technology. I know WN has already expressed a willingness to buy the plane should Boeing build it. If Boeing gave the go ahead tomorrow to build the plane. What others carriers would be interested. I assume Airbus must also be contemplating improving their A320 family. Personally I think WN, Ryan Air maybe MAS would be the launch companies

this topic makes no sense because boeing sayd that the next boeing narrowbody ,dont know why you say 737 new generation because its likely to be an all new plane, won't enter service for atleast another 10 years...

so it doesn't make sense to say wich airlines will pick them up in 10 years because we don't know the current airline sitiuations in 2016 do we?

Look how many 737 and A320 were flying for several airlines. Every of this airlines is a potential customer of a new 737.

Launch customers? WN, Ryanair, United, AA, BA, LH were potential launch customer, but the question is, when Boeing will offer this aircraft.

I have read several articles and threads which indicated a lot of interest from airlines for a new narrow body airliner with newer technology and fuel efficiency. I think Maurice if Boeing waits 10yrs Airbus and Embraer will have the market. If they applied 787 technology to a 737 size family of airliners I think it would be successful

If you mean Y1, then between AA, WN and CO alone, Boeing would have an up to 900 aircraft order book for 15 years, which would make it worthwhile. All they need is to offer an aircraft that is better than the 737NG, MD80 and 752 in a real way that makes it worth buying rather than keeping the other jets for 20 more years.

Other carriers would include those in Japan, AS, Ryanair and other LCCs that fly current 737s and 757s and hasn't shifted to an A320 replacement scheme, potentially certain carriers who currently fly the A320 series in bulk (but only if the new plane was so much better and Airbus wasn't competing with a new A320 for some reason). B6 and F9 are two that could be swayed if the price and product were right.

WN has already stated they want B to offer a replacement sooner rather than later, and AA and CO would be on board, as CO could use more 752 type planes in the future, and AA needs to start replacing 752s and MD80s at some point, and the 738 can't do it all.

Depending on the timeframe, I could definately see UA going for it to replace aging A320s (the first A320 was delivered in 1994 IIRC, so 10 years from now UA would probably be looking to start replacement). Needless to say the successors to the 737 and A320 will both be VERY successful, the market is too big for anyone to run away with it.

True. And you will tend to see the large carriers stick with the brands they have now, with only a few defections. A smaller carrier would more easily switch out. And LCCs would only switch the deal were too good to pass up.

something with a width wider than current narrow bodies but not as wide as a 767 would be nice,in between would be perfect.

If they can find a way to deliver a 20% gain in fuel efficiency and the 787 rolls of the line without a hitch, Boeing may need a few new factories to keep up. Airbus too with their product.
