It is possible at many American airlines' website to choose your seat when booking a flight.
How come that this is rarely an option in Europe? The European carriers use extensive e-services as e-tickets, online check-in and so on, but not seat selection.
If I for instance book a KL or AF flight on expedia.com, I am able to choose the seat. I can as well do it by writing KL or calling AF (DOH!!).
Does Europeans simply don't mind where to sit, or is there another reason for this? I'm pretty annoyed about it, as I hate ending up in a middle seat on a 12 hours flight in cattle class.
