first off your title is way off.... song is hardly being scrapped, merely being rolled back into delta as a new form of long-haul service with frist class.
secondly... do a search, there are several current threads on this very topic already
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

Haven't we known this for a while, not to be mean or anything, but I think this has been discussed before (a week ago or something) like the transcon product will resemble SONG or something along those lines?

So, when DAL gets rid of Song. It's back to the same ol' thing. I wonder if TED will meet the same fate in the not-too-distant future.

Song is the prototype for the new Delta Airlines. In addition Delta Airlines Boeing 757 will be fitted with 26 First Class seats on flights over 1750 miles. Delta Airlines plans for JFK-LAX, SFO, SEA and ATL-LAX, SFO, SEA to be full service in all classes. Buy on Board, and IFE will become standard on all Delta flights in excess of 1750 miles.
Currently Delta Airlines is revamping its fleet of shorter range MD-80, -88, -90 with interiors of a wooden floor in the lavatories, and new seat covers in all classes. The 767-300, -400, and 777 will be getting very nice interiors as well!

Since the beginning of Song, it has been said that Delta Airlines, was going to prototype the product before going systemwide!

Is the best thing DL could do --- SONG service, staff, cabin interiors and amenities far surpassed mainline DL!!

I certainly hope not. Ted has a promising product... The difference between Ted and Song was Ted was formed as a low-cost carrier while the parent company was re-organizing. Song was an experiment formed while DLs costs were out of control. GO TED!!! I wish Song was gonna stay.
