NWA PILOTS APPROVE AGREEMENT (11/14/05)
Via membership ballot concluded at 4:00 p.m. ET today, NWA pilots have approved the 1113(c) Extension Agreement by a 63.6 percent to 36.4 percent margin.
* 5040 NWA pilots were eligible to vote
* 4028 of eligible pilots cast a ballot (79.92 percent participation)
* 2563 voted to approve the agreement (63.6 percent in favor)
* 1465 were opposed (36.4 percent opposed)
The Extension Agreement is designed to provide NWA with short-term cost savings in return for an additional two months in which to negotiate a longer-term agreement. Implementation of the agreement is contingent upon management achieving similar interim cost savings from PFAA and IAM. The PFAA Executive Board has already approved an agreement to provide 60 percent of management’s 1113(c) “ask.” Management was unable to reach a consensual agreement with the IAM, and asked the court for authority to impose contract changes through the 1113(e) process. The IAM 1113(e) hearing is scheduled to be held on Wednesday of this week (November 16, 2005).
If all requirements are met, the pilots’ 1113(c) Extension Agreement will take effect Wednesday, November 16, 2005 and remain in place until the earlier of when an 1113(c) consensual agreement takes effect or there is an order of the court which ends the 1113(c) process.
