...You're on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The 250,000 question is....
"How Many Runways does London Heathrow Airport Have"
Answers are 2,3,4 or 6
You can't believe your luck - an aviation related question and you have no lifelines available
What answer would you give.....?
2 - because that's what the general public think
3 - a little used piece of land at the eastern end in a north-east/south west direction
4 - because each runway can be used in each direction 27L, 27R, 9L, 9R
6 - because there's also 05 & 23.

So at the moment it's 2 (2 runways, each available in 2 directions but that's not generally considered to be different as what people mean when they say "runway" is the slab of asphalt, not the operational use).
If the answer is rejected, demand they call the BAA or Jep to verify

I was sad to hear that Runway 23 has been closed. Shame to see that.
I always wondered why they couldn't have made more use of it... I know about the Terminal 1 and 4 stands and the intersections... but surely it could have been used more at peak times. Still, it's a theoretical questions now. Alas.
