Well done MAN, something else to look at, hopefully they can fill those 332's, the loads out of LON have been pretty poor.............

Well done MAN

Can you elaborate why well done MAN? Although it might be a win-win case but EY is the one that thought of MAN and worked on the deal. Unless there is something I am missing?

-Why not well done, it is another carrier than MAN has secured to operate services. Good on them I say!

Rubbish! I know the people in the route development department at MAN - they have worked tirelessly to convince EY to come to MAN. No airline just decides they fancy operating a city pair - much work is done by the airport on researching the demand and convincing airlines to operate them.

Great news. I knew, and im saying that honestly, that they would announce it, just didnt actually know a confirmed date! I love their livery. I for one can't wait to snap it at MAN! Roll on 2006!

Yeah their livery is amazing! T1? You sure, T1 is a bit busy, if EK move to T2 as planned then maybe there will be room.
Its great to see another Middle Eastern Airline at Manchester. We'll just have to see how well the route does.

i hope EY considers BHX too as EK badly needs some good competition from that city. PIA only gives it a good run for their money on the BHX-ISB route which is flown nonstop 5 times a week with A 310s by PIA.

They have, and I think Billy mentioned it in another thread, they wanted a lot of money in various forms to launch the service!!

I'm not sure how they'll fair with EK's established brand and double daily service. But from an enthusiasts perspective, and being a MAN local, I'm delighted! Big grin

Yep. EY are to operate into T1 at MAN, with an 0600 arrival time.

Quoting Jetset7E7 (Reply 10):

EK will not be moving to T2 any time soon as their 773s and 77Ws are too long to fit onto any stand on T2, so they are sticking with T1 for the time being.

Good news for MAN. Another (non-UK) carrier that realise that there is life outside of London.

That seems like a bit of an oversight by Manchester Airport, not to be able to accommodate the B773 on the stands at T2. With the A346 being even longer, I guess this means that VS will only use the B744 and A343 from MAN?

One of the prototype A346s did some flight trials out of MAN, and I heard that this was requested by VS as they were considering using the A346 on MAN services. Was the same problem picked up then?
