I did a search, and could not believe this wasn't out there somewhere. If I missed it, sorry.
AirTran is doing a promotion with Wendy's here in the US. Collect 32 medium or Biggie sized cups to get a one way AirTran A+ reward ticket. Collect 64, and you get a round trip ticket.
I think this is a win-win for both companies. It will get people in the door to Wendy's after the chili incident, and it will cause people to look at AirTran.
I already collected enough for 1 free ticket. Do the math, and you'll find out it's a good deal.

Here's some things from a "consumer advocate's" website:
Quote: You may not be aware, but Wendy's corporate policy is that if you go up for a refill for a drink they give you a new cup to be more sanitary. That means that if you get a 20 oz. or 32 oz. drink and then get a refill before you leave you can pick-up two coupons each visit.
Quote: Call me cheap but I picked up three that were in the parking lot.. hahah
Quote: I have less pride-- went through the trashcans for a couple days! Collected about 30 or so, but then, got "busted" by a Wendy's manager. No pride and no shame!

So far, I've gotten enough for one credit. I actually look for Wendy's locations while out on my route, and hope to get enough credits to at least get an upgrade or two. I saw one of the cups on the side of the road the other day and almost pulled over to get it.

I'm pretty sure you have to travel under a reward ticket, so blackout dates apply.

Quoting IslipWN (Reply 7): Nice, Zippyjet! And when does this end?
December 31, 2005. I think you have to have the cups in to FL in February.

So, who gets the "honor" and pleasure of collecting these used cups from the customers? That must be a fun job!

The only catches I've seen so far...maximum 128 cups per A+ reward account. You can send in a minimum of 4 at a time, a maximum of 64. They must be sent in a standard number 10 envelope.
It's all over the country...I have my entire family collecting them for me.

I think that's more like win (for Coca Cola and LOSE (big) for AirTran...
I went to Wendy's (here in the Dallas area) for lunch, and there were no cups, nor did anyone (including the manager) know (supposedly) anything about it. Someone did say there had been a promotion with another airline, but that it ended some time ago.
I stopped by another Wendys location (it was next to the place I -was- going for dinner), and I got pretty much the same story, at least unitil I spoke with the assistant manager who had been told by the manager that there was a "mistake" on the promotional info on the internet, and that cups would be available sometime next week.
It would appear that someone, probably at AirTran, figured out that they were going to get HOSED (bigtime) by misinformation and misinterpretation involving this promotion, ala' the infamous "Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Promotion" over in the UK a few years ago.
Think about it, and then do the math. The medium (20 oz.) drink at Wendy's is $1.08, and the "Biggie" (32 oz.) is $1.39, so to get a roundtrip somewhere, you're talking 64 x $1.08 ($69.12) or 64 x $1.39 ($88.96). Now, how is AirTran supposed to make money on this? Had someone not sensed the need to clarify things to folks, this promotion could have cost them -millions- of bucks.
Assuming what that assistant manager told me about the "mistake" is true and they start handing out special cups next week, I suspect you're going to see the revised promotion requiring the purchase of a full meal instead of just a drink.

Try to redeem it while you can, but don't be surprise if "rule changes" get cited for reasons why it can't be...
Wendy's customers can be a part of the Round Trip Refreshment program by collecting specially-marked 20 oz. and 32 oz. beverage cups featuring an AirTran Airways Flight Coupon.
The coupons can then be redeemed for frequent flyer credits as part of AirTran Airways A+ Rewards program. A free one-way ticket requires 32 of the Round Trip coupons.
More than 80 million Round Trip Refreshment cups were produced for the promotion that will run at nearly 3,200 Wendy's locations in 85 markets across the country until December 31, 2005. Official rules are available at http://www.aplusrewards.com and participating Wendy's locations.
Wendy's – Coca-Cola Bonus Offer
Do what tastes right and take flight! Earn 1/4 credit when you purchase a combo, 20 or 32 oz. drink at participating Wendy's restaurants. A free flight never tasted so good. Get more details on Wendy's Roundtrip Refreshment offer. Note that it mentions a combo.

The initial buzz here was created by the press release, which say nothing about having to by a combo. Watch for that to change...

The cups are specially printed, with a coupon the side. You have to cut out the coupon from the cup. I've gotten 5 so far as I usually go there for lunch at least a couple times a week (nearby to work is only a Subway *vomit,* Quiznos $$, and Wendys). The instructions for cutting out the cups, and mailing them in, is printed right on the cups. It's a pain in the ass to cut the cups, and I've now got a desk drawer with them in it. My girlfriend has her whole family collecting them for her, I think she's up to 30-some already. Considering that most people are going to look and be like "I'll never get 64 of them" and just not care to collect them, it seems like Airtran won't loose much here. My boss laughs at me every time she sees me getting out scissors to cut them out saying the same things. She's calling me the Don Quijote of free Airfare, lol.
