A380 To Wear Full Emirates Colours At Dubai

I found the following news article in Flight International mentioning that Airbus will be demonstrating MSN004 in full Emirate colours, at the Dubai Airshow. This will be the first time the A380 will appear in an Airlines full colour scheme.

The most ironic part about this is that MSN004 is equipped with RR while Emirates has chosen EA.

The other ironic part about all of this is the fact that this very same aircraft is destined to go to Ethiad.

Love it when I'm right Big grin When I made this exact suggestion about a month ago (around the first flight of the all-white msn004), it was met by several eye-rolling posts from Hamlet69. So... how will you be having your crow, Hamlet?  Wink

That is really funny.

Anyway, thanks for the link. I suppose we know now why it didn't get any color except that white.

Aah, the glories of the much derided "Eurowhite"! Airbus could change a demo plane from EK to QF to AF and on to LH in as many days!

Derided "Eurowhite"?
I don't like when airlines paint their planes into Air Force grey or still use the 60's window stripe style.
So it's up to the single person to decide.

Will they really paint it, or reproduce the painting with stickers only?
I guess it will be the 2nd option... with is much more feasible and cheap.

PS: Will they paint(apply a sticker) in the bottom part of the aircraft, like on the new Emirates 77W's? I guess that is a new feature introduced in the paint scheme for all EK planes from now on.

That's the big question, if all goes according to plan, it should arrive here on Friday late afternoon (hopefully before it gets dark). For Saturday, a Burj-al-Arab flyby is planned!

I hope they paint it at night and the painters confuse EK colors with KLM colors Big grin

That would be a nice livery indeed!! Who knows whether we will see KL operate the A388 or not. I personally think KL will go for Boeing's new 747-8 further down the line which is great too! Big grin

just saw it this morning, in EK livery. The tail part of the livery looks a little bit over the top to me, but it is quite impressive overall.

Quite a difference between suggesting a company could paint a plane a certain way and speculating about complicated things like break-even points, weight issues and what no, don't you think?

So I'm afraid you're just grasping at straws  Wink

It gets even better, the 380 will fly in formation with A6-EBG.

Is it me or has 'time' made the A380 look much nicer??? It was hard to grasp such a monstrosity of a plane, at first... but now it just seems much more 'normal' and every day. It's becoming more pleasant to the eyes into something really nice looking. Love the wings and the tail... the nose still is hard to like.

Cheers, Ric

I just arrived back in TLS from business trip around 5.30 pm, and I saw this huge EK tail in front of "L'abreuvoir"..

MSN 004 was actually rolling for take-off just next to us, it was quite stunning!!!

I remember reading that when the 747 was touring for the Paris Airshow, Pan Am, the launch customer, wanted its logo painted on the test aircraft, since it had ordered 25 747s. However, Boeing nixed the idea and flew the aircraft in its own colors.

How times have changed!

25 Aloges : Wow! The flag looks fabulous on that tail! I bet the Emiratis will love the size of it, too.
26 Pilottim747 : Yeah, it looks good in the Emirates colors. Hopefully it'll look good in full SQ and QF as well. pilottim747
