Was reading the Austin Statesman which is a horrible paper and they had an article about "Southwest gains Congress' OK for non-stop." In the pic of the caption they show this "American Airlines CEO Gerard Arpey, left, with Southwest CEO Herb Kelleher, says American may add Love Field flights."
How ignorant can they be is posting that Herb is CEO? If something has changed in that title at WN I was unaware of it. Last time I looked Gary Kelly, was CEO of Southwest. Just goes to show the mistakes made in papers and the sources they use.

and the full article:

edit: I emailed the Statesman, telling them of there mistake.

Media + Aviation = rumors, fractional truth, lots of Monday morning quarterbacks, sensationalism, inaccurate file photos, frightful lathering of the Masses...............

Yeah. As a general rule I don't trust or care for the US media.

I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

Maybe, but in this case it was a simple mistake between CEO and Chairman of the Board. Does anyone actually care? I certainly don't.

Exactly... I don't think we need to call out the press police. Gary Kelly is CEO, Herb is Chairman of the Board.

I have to agree, in the big scheme of things, I can find far worse things to be upset about.

Herb is one of the co-founders, an ex-CEO and is the head of the Board of Directors at Southwest. He is clearly recognized as one of the leaders of the company and still has considerable power and invovement with them. So a paper made a mistake - BFHD.

Flying may not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.
