"Fly First Class announced plans Wednesday to start international air service early next year between Wilmington and London, with a stop in Bermuda.

The service would operate twice a week, increasing if demand warrants, said Darrel Richardson, chief executive officer of the new Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based airline."

That website that mdfan gave is a little messed up. They have a picture of 757 on there but they say the fly 767's. Also does that 757 look like an old HP plane?

Are you kidding me with this??? Being from NC, just up the road a bit in OAJ, I don't see how there is enough demand for this kind of service out of ILM. Granted, it's a beautiful city and I LOVE it when I'm there, but who is going to fly this? Are they gearing for the coastal traffic who would normally drive to RDU and fly AA to LGW? I totally don't understand this one.

I always thought ILM would be a good choice for JetBlue.... you could get some of the business from PHL without the major delays, etc.

ILM is Wilmington, NC...

ILN is Wilmington, DE....

but ILN seems like a good alternative to the Hades which is PHL to me also.. too bad they don't have commerical service.. is it commercial service ready?

"Fly First Class announced plans Wednesday to start international air service early next year between Wilmington and London, with a stop in Bermuda.

There must be some sort of business relationship between Wilmington NC and the Stansted area to support this flight. First, Stansted is a good 1 1/2 hour drive or 45 minute train ride from central London (without traffic) and 2nd, the only connections out of Stansted are to Eastern Europe and maybe Israel (although I'm not certain if this is still the case). So if you are flying to London to connect to any long haul flight, you'd need to navigate all the way to Heathrow via train through central London or drive about 50+ miles. Who would do this and also pay a premium fare AND also accept a Bermuda enroute stop ? Could be it's really intended for Wilmington to Bermuda traffic and Bermuda - London traffic.
