I was just looking at the Pictures. Came across this LH A-340 in Istanbul ? Isn't this aircraft too big for the route ? Isn't TK looking to get more A-340's ? Could this one in the pic be one of them ? It might have been put on the route to give TK officals a demo of the aircraft? Any ideas ?

Wow, dont read too much into one picture......all that we can conclude is that LH used an A343 on a flight into IST on a particular day. I dont think that LH uses A343s on flights into IST on a regular basis, but the market between Germany and Turkey is rather large and probably LH did an aircraft swap to accommodate demand; the pic was taken on 14th Oct - the following week is a school holiday period in some parts of Germany (and Europe) so probably lots of pax were travelling.

TK doesn't need a demo for the aircraft as they have been operating the A343 for quite a while themselves. So no need to demonstrate the A343 to TK, they already know the aircraft's performance, range, economics and the like. As long as the aircraft is in good condition, the price is right and everything conform all international standards, that should be enough.

I certainly don't know what LH flies into IST but could the A343 have anything to do with the Fenerbahce SK-Schalke 04 Champions League game 5 days after the day the photo was taken?

I think the flight was rerouted enroute from Bangkok due to medical emergency! I know that this happened in October on a flight enroute from BKK to MUC on an A-340, not sure about the date!
