Hi!

Very interesting this news. So is my understanding that TAP will order the A330-200 to replace the A310-300 from 2007 on and from 2013 on both the A340-300 and "maybe" some A330-200's will leave the fleet too! I hope we can get some more deep details regarding this business! Anyway I like both airplanes, so I feel good!!!

Excellent news, finally we get the breakdown on TAP's order. Leaves me to ask are these the 10 undisclosed A350's that Airbus had announced at the A350 launch?

In the last 48 hours.

5 A318 for National Air Services (Saoudi Arabia)
6 A320 for Jazeera Airways (Kuwait)
12 A350 for Alafco (Kuwait)
30 A320 for Kingfisher
17 A350/330 for TAP

But offcourse, it just depends on what you define being a 'long time'.  Wink

It looks that TAP will get that date to also replace the A340-300 that will be at that time with 17 years old, that's my understanding!

Indeed, this is excellent news for both Tap and the A350 program. Am just awaiting to get a further break down of the aircraft involved. It will also be interesting to see the power plant chosen for the both the A330/A350. Im must certain that Tap will go with GE.

It will also be interesting to see how long those leased A330 will stay with Tap.

Thanks Wings All I know is that the 7 A330s are A332s at this stage. It's late here now so I look forward to seeing your updated post in the morning. Also I very much appreciate the conversations we've been having via various threads over the last few months on this order. I'm pleased it's finally announced.

Hi!

Very nice news the one I read in Airbus homepage! We will have the A330-200 with 268 passengers, a little less that the A340-300 but a nice increase over the A310-300! I hope our brand new A330-200's will come with all the good amenities they have, like IFE! I also think the introduction of the A330 before the arrival of the A350 will give TAP a smooth transition of about 6 years until we get the brand new A350!!! Regarding the model..... my vote goes for the 800 version!!!

Sorry, Manni... but Airbus got credit for this in Paris... they are just firmed it up....

But where is Qatar's 60 frames??? that is the question?

But congrats to TP and Airbus... stinks I have to wait till 2013 to fly the A350... but worth the wait....

So is TP the launch customer for the A359?

Nevertheless good to see them firmed up. It brings the total of firmed up A350 to 47. If all the orders announced at this airshow are actually firmed up, Airbus total for the year stands at an impressive 569 firm orders. However to reach the 200 firm commitments Leahy announced, Airbus is still 57 short, now it's been announced that these 10 for TAP are those 10 announced as unidentified at the launch of the A350. Tomorrow there are a few more press conferences planned for Airbus, would be nice to know more then.

If I'm not mistaken, with this order TAP is the first flagcarrier of a European country to order either the A350 or 787.

Blue Panorama, First Choice, Eurofly and Air Europa have ordered either the A350 or 787 but aren't considered flagcarriers.
