Why on Delta's 767-200s and 767-300s the IFE controls use analog dials? The 757 uses buttons and features an LED display. As far as I can remember, even the L-1011 used buttons and had an LED display. Does anyone know about this?

Note that this could change on the 767-300 (non-ERs), which may get Song IFE.

Well I guess this is the way they ordered the aircraft....They work absolutely fine, so there is no reason to waste money and change them to LED displays in my opinion. There would be no point in the change.

So why did they order the 757s with the more advanced controls? I do believe even the L-1011s had LED displays.

I beg to differ... (well from personal experience anyway). They were old, some were cracked, and the sound quality coming out of the sockets was very very dodgy...

Keep in mind that the tube type headphones are no longer used. Two metal prong electronic headphones are now used.

On a side note, does anyone know how many DL 762's are currently flying and what are the tail numbers?

The 757 IFE (audio/video) was not factory installed. It was installed in the late 80's-early 90's at the TOC. The older 767 IFE was installed at the factory in the early 80's and was what was available at the time. The L-1011's got digital controls (early 90's) when they were switched over from a Telephonics system to a Matsushita system.

This plane is built to withstand anything... except a bad pilot.
