Strange sight! There is an AA 777 parked at the far west end of the airfield near the Colorado jetCenter at COS. I am confident, though not certain, that COS doesn't see any regular 777 traffic. It's a small airport, and even if it was regular traffic, it wouldn't be parked where it is. It's at sort of an arbitrary location, either on taxiway alpha or in the general aviation area (hard to tell from this distance), but not near any buildings. It has airstairs hooked up on the front door.

Here's an image:

Anyone know the story on this one?

Interesting. I should have guessed!

My family lives there, and there is military personnel out the yin-yang here. Fort Carson, Air Force Academy, Shriever AFB, Peterson AFB, Cheyenne Mountain NORAD, etc. etc...

Well, at least they get to ride to Kuwait in style. Thanks for the info.

Nice pic catch, I wish I would have gone and taken a picture of it.

But yeah as said before it is a frequent thing to see widebodies here because of fort carson and all the troops being deployed. Plus I believe they have tested the B777 here before with the whole altitude stuff.

I should have got a closer picture. I drove in from Highway 24 and it was sitting right there, almost as if I was going to drive under it! But it was cold and windy and I didn't want to get out of the car.  Wink

The altitude at COS (1885m/6187ft) does make for some interesting conditions.
