CNN and MSNBC are both reporting a midair collission in Boca Raton, FL., between a Lear 55 and an "experimental" aircraft. they are also reporting at least 1 fatality. they say more deaths are expected to be announced. there are also reports of parachutes hanging out of a tree, near the site of the jets impact. i do not know either a/c's N# or the departure or arrival info. on either.

From what I have seen there are now 3 confirmed deaths, two of which were beleived to be in the Lear 55, and the other one in the smaller aircraft. They don't know if there are anymore.
Witnesses said that they had seen a parachute, and later one of the victims's body was found with a parachute next to it.
The actual collision happened over a residential area and golf course. It is beleived that the Learjet had just taken off from an exucutive airport about two miles away, but I'm forget which one. After the collision some of the debris landed on the golf course while other debris landed on or near a condominium. Police say that due to how scattered the debris was, if there was anyone else on board either of the aircraft they were also probably killed. No ground injuries have been reported so far.
I saw this information on CNN.
All I can say is that my prayers go out to the families of the victims.

My best friend, who is summering in MA right now, lives in the neighborhood (Boca Grove) where the two planes came down. I live 5 minutes away. When I read the news on AOlL, I was shocked, for years the aiport has been fighting the city and neighboorhood to build a general aviation tower, this certainly will be the catalyst in that pursuit. Boca Raton Airport is a small one, no commercial service, mostly private jets, airplane schools, and biz jets. When IBM had its campus here (PC invented there!), there was a fleet of Leers stationed at teh airport doing multi daily runs to Westchester County Airport (near Armonk, IBM's HQ).
Yahoo says now 4 died, 3 in the Lear, 1 in the prop. The pilot of the prop attempted to jump out with parachute after the collision but apparently did not make it.
Like everyone else, I'm schocked and saddened at the loss.

I like in the town just north of Boca Raton called Delray Beach (Florida). The pilot of the Extra 300 which collided with the Lear 55 was John Lillberg. I have met him a couple of times at the airport I fly out of (Lantana, LNA) and watched him fly his routines. Pretty bad day down here.
