Today's edition of Italian newspaper La Repubblica carries a report of two pilots who claim they narrowly avoided being hit by missiles: the first involving a commercial jet en route from Palermo to Naples on 25 June 2003, the second a state helicopter travelling from Potenza to Naples on 10 October 2003.
The pilot of the Fokker 100 AlpiEagles jet, with a capacity of 119 passengers, says a missile "with a red nose and very sleek body" passed just six hundred metres below his aircraft
The second incident involved an Italian state Guardia di Finanza helicopter
The two "events" from 2003 are currently being investigated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, in tandem with local Carabinieri
