Hi!

Just wanted to tell you that TAP is keeping "on the top of the wave"!!! Take a look to what's new for 2006:

- Munich will be increased from 12 to 14 flights a week
- Scandinavia will be increased from 11 to 14 flights a week ( 7 to Stockholm
and 7 to Oslo )
- 2 addicional daily flights to Charles de Gaulle ( TAP only flew to Orly )
- 1 weekly flight to Bologna and Zagreb
- 3 weekly flights to Dublin
- TAP will be flying 58 weekly flights to Italy ( Rome, Milan, Venice and Bologna ).

This according to TAP will be achieved with 33 airplanes, does TAP have 33 narrow bodies ( A319/320/321 )???
regards

Does TAP still fly to JNB via Mozambique or has it become a direct flight

How will the rotations for this be?

At the moment they fly:

LIS-CPH-OSL four times a week
LIS-CPH-ARN three times a week
LIS-ARN four times a week.

I suppose they will still be serving CPH from the 2006 summer schedule - the above schedule is still the one that figures in amadeus etc. for summer 2006.

TAP OSL service increased from 3 to 4 weekly this autaumn, all via CPH on A321 and A320.

In addition SAS Braathens fly OSL - LIS nonstop 3 times a week on B737.

Hi!

OK guys let me just process all this and try to answer all your questions!!!

- Croatia will certainly be a kind of a new market for portuguese!!! Because they will fly via Bologna maybe they will try to catch italian market and get Zagreb has a "bonus"!!! I personally would love to visit Croatia!!!
- TP flies South Africa and Mozambique in a "triangle"... they have some direct flights to JNB and some via Maputo, also works in the oposite way, direct flights to Maputo and on the way back a stop at JNB!
- CPH will ALWAYS be a place for TP to fly!!! They've been flying since the 60's and they'll not drop it!!! I think TP will increase both ARN and OSL to 5 times a week via CPH and LIS-ARN will be kept the same!
- Both Central Europe/Scandinavian markets are growing to portuguese!!! I know a lot of portuguese are visiting Prague and Budapest and with my own experience I travelled last September to Norway! Why? Well maybe because Braathens offered me a very nice cheap fare and we the portuguese always have that "will" to visit good old northern Scandinavia!!! Me, my wife and young daughter loved to visit Oslo/Norway..... awesome place, awesome place!!!
Regards

Sounds good - and thanks for the reply CV990.

What is your source that they will increase Scandinavia to 14 weekly flights? I can't find anything about on the web - not that I doubt the information you give.

No, right now TAP has 31 narrow bodies (32S).
They will probably add 2 in 2006...

An behalf of the Algarve, I am starting a new campaign for TAP called
"Faro - where the **** is that?"

As usual TAP, which should be renamed Air Lisbon, picks bizarre routes/frequencies whilst continuing to hand over all competition out of FAO to every other airline.  banghead  We might as well be served by Iberia...

Breakfast in BHX, lunch in FAO, dinner in TIP, baggage in YYC.

That's because the traffic to Faro is all leisure and no high yield. It's very difficult for a full service airline to compete with charters at Faro and make a profit.

Zagreb makes sense. The Portuguese are starting to discover Croatia as a tourist destination.

This information I saw in the weekly newpaper EXPRESSO that have a online version. According to them one of the responsibles gave that information during a congress for tourist agents that was held on Maputo/Mozambique during this week.

TAP has now 31 narrow Bodies:
16 A319
12 A320
3 A321

But in December TAP will add another A320 to its fleet that had already been in TAP's fleet (CS-TNC). And I also heard that TAP will get two others A320 in the beginning of 2006.
But that would make 34 narrow bodies, not 33. If this information of 2 more A320 coming in the beginning 2006 is true, does it means that there is any plane (Narrow B.) leaving the fleet? Does any one knows if there is any leasing contract of A319 or A320 coming to an end?

Regards

The first one that had already been in TAP's fleet (CS-TNC) is now flying with LTE as JY-JAR. The other two I still don't know. I'm looking for that info.

Regards.

There are no current routes out of Faro that can possibly be served by TAP that aren't already extensevely covered by other carriers. As said, it is a leisure market.

Quoting CV990 (Thread starter):
- 1 weekly flight to Bologna and Zagreb

Sounds good but 1 weekly flight isn't practical (besides, isn't Bologna already served by PGA?). I have been saying for a long time that (in my expert armchair CEO opinion) TAP should purchase or lease a few Embraer 170s/190s to develop new routes while providing decent frequency.

Quoting FlyPEGASUS (Reply 17):
But that would make 34 narrow bodies, not 33.

With these new routes becoming successful I think they could easily need 34 narrowbodies. Bologna and Zagreb (is it Bologna and Zagreb or Zagreb via Bologna?) will soon enough develop or die, as 1 weekly frequency is not sustainable forever.

And it is great to seeTAP fly to CDG. It is only logical that they start code-sharing the flights to Scandinavia with SAS.

Quoting Flymunich (Reply 11):
Why no OPO-MUC service??

It would make perfect sense but maybe they are giving that one to LH?

Quoting CV990 (Reply 9):

The ticket might be cheap but isn't everything else in Norway horrendously expensive?

Read this very carefully, I shall write this only once!

Hi Pyrex!

Well Norways might be expensive in some items, like going to restaurants, driking expressos and other stuffs that are really cheap in Portugal. But in our case ( me, my wife and young daughter ) what we did first of all was to buy the Oslo Pass that gave acess to many museums and public transportation, then we were regular clients of supermarkets were we would buy bread, cheese, meat, salad and drinks and we would do our own meals everyday!!!! We also walked a lot, and that's healthy, and our hotel had a wonderfull breakfast buffet.... so adding all those things it was not that expensive!!!! But what we found cheap compared to Portugal was clothes to our baby girl!!!

I wonder why TP doesn't try more German destinations top feed their LIS hub. So far TP only serves FRA (3times) and MUC (2times). No DUS, HAM, BER or Stuttgart.
There should be healthy loads to LIS combining Brazilian feed, tourists to LIS and some business traffic too.

Didn't TP used to have a weekly FAO-DUB A343 charter flight a few years ago? Is that service still running during the summer?

Hi!

I think both TP and LH are playing fair on this business. TP and LH only fly to FRA and MUC... I don't know why, but if anything change both LH and TP will need to discuss and come to a conclusion on that!!! LH I think is in lead, they have flights from FAO/LIS and OPO to Germany, and TP only flies from LIS and maybe OPO???
Regards

25 Pyrex : I don't know if this is against LH strategy but maybe some Lufthansa regional carrier could fly those routes to LIS, since TAP does not have aircraft
26 A360 : No, TAP doesn't fly fro OPO to germany.... Just LH 3x daily to FRA. Regards: A360
