When DL announced new European destinations KBP was one of them, yet I can not find anywhere on DL website when they will start this new service from JFK. Does anyone here have any idea when DL will start this service? I know that they will be using the 767-300, but that's all I know. Trying to get to KBP via the States is a mess since you must fly Aerosvit out of JFK and there service isn't that great.

Any info will be appreciated!

I believe that DL is still waiting on approval from both the DOT and the Ukranian government. I would expect a formal launch date after that, although I'd assume it will start in late April or May.

The proposed start date is for June 5 2006. DOT approval is still pending because the request involves taking away codeshare slots from UA.

From what I remember, it is about using currently unused slots, not taking away some of UA's slots (though that would be nothing new  Silly ).
UA is planning to use the exemptions to add a second daily codeshare on an LH flight from FRA, and while UA was first to apply, IMHO, DL should logically have the advantage, as they would operate their own nonstop service, and not yet another codeshare via a European hub. But anyway, it's still up to the DOT, and with their working speed, I don't expect a decision before May next year  Wink .

What is the difference between "IEV" and "KBP"?
Are both open to airline service?
