I just didn't find any recent threads about this topic and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light.
I think that JL announced some time ago that they were planning to convert two of their pax 744 into a cargo configuration and use it on its JAL CARGO routes. What happened to this plan? I do not hear anything about this and I was just wondering if the two oldest 747-400 in the JL fleet would go? This would be JA8071 & 8072. But if I remember correct these two birds are equipped with the new shell flat seat aren't they? So what is going to happen in the coming months?
Did this plan change when the CEO resigned this year and got replaced by a new one?
Just as a note, it is sad how many of the 744 in the JL fleet are being painted in the new color scheme. I really like the crane. I saw JA8073 this year in January flying in the old colors and I saw it in November in the new colors. I would presume that the cargo conversion aircrafts will probably be the old color scheme?
If so, I wonder if they are going to have the bare metal colors like the other JL744F.

I presume this is one of the a/c to be configured to -SF, from what I've heard.
JA8074 or JA8076 may be the other candidates in my opinion, as these ones are in same lay-out of cabin.
JL is planning to make an order with Boeing for more B747-freighters (either 400F or B747-800F -like NCA did). In 2009, JALCARGO will operate an all -400F fleet, with all the -200F's being retired.

Thanks. I never knew that. That must be awkward, with the new business class product and the old first class product. But do you really think JA8071 and 8074 or 8076 will go?
It just seems that there are many aircrafts in JL's fleet that are still configured with both the old C and F class seats. I just think that giving up two aircrafts with this configuration is wasteful.
