Just a quick question for anybody who is in the know. I am flying to HKG in Jan from LHR via NRT. Some of you may have read my post back in October about trying to get on a JAL 747 classic. Well originally both NRT-HKG and HKG-NRT were on 744's according to the JAL website. However last night I checked on the JAL site and it has JL735 as a 747 classic now, I could not believe my luck Big grin

My question is, the main JAL site has JL735 on 11th Jan 06 as a 747 classic, however Jalcargo.com, oag and Amadeus have it down as a 744. Which one should I believe? Is it a case that the JAL website is up to date and the others are not, or is it a mistake on the JAL site?

Thanks in advance.

JL will decide equipment about a few days before. CY config 744s and 743 have marginal difference in seating and thus can be interchanged. Their published schedule shows JL735 to be operated by 744 for Jan1 to Mar25. If bookings are poor they might downgrade it to a 772ER or 763ER.

Thanks for the information. Its down as a 747 rather than a 744 so that gives me a little bit of hope Big grin no doubts it will be a 744 on the day though  Sad

I phoned up JAL to try and sort out seat allocations for our flights, only to be told as we had booked the cheapest Y seats, we could not do this till check-in. This is the first time I have come across this with any airline.

Anyways, should be a great trip  Smile

Well both OAG and amadeus have it down as a 747 classic for this date now. Jalcargo.com still says 744, so I guess that JAL have swapped aircraft for this flight (at this stage) on this day only Big grin

On OAG it says valid 11th Jan 06 - 11th Jan 06.

I'm over the moon, I've never flown on a 747-300 before so it would be a new experience for me. I hope it stays as a 747.

Cheers
